Kilbeggan FET Centre is located in the Midlands Gateway Business Park. Our spacious and modern facility includes a large kitchen, IT Room and general learning suites. The centre has five members of staff with an array of teaching qualifications from home economics and biology to ICT and maths. Kilbeggan FET provides a learning environment where students can excel both academically and socially, having been inspected in 2016 and receiving an outstanding Report Kilbeggan FET staff strive to ensure that the young individuals that enter their facility leave a more confident, self assured, educated young person that is ready to continue their educational journey or enter the world of work. Stephen has worked at the centre since 2015 and was promoted to Centre Coordinator in early 2021 from assistant coordinator. Coming from an educational background of Physics and Mathematics he specialises in numeracy skills and teaches maths across all QQI levels within the centre. He also teaches Research and Study Skills at QQI Level 5.
Pauline took up the position of assistant coordinator in late 2018. Coming from the private sector, she is educated in business studies and marketing. She also has a Masters within Guidance Counselling. She teaches QQI level 4 and 5 Entrepreneurial Skills along with QQI level 5 Social Studies and also works one to one with students in the area of Career Guidance.
Teresita worked in private sector for the last 10 years expanding her career in retail and retail management before joining Kilbeggan FET in 2021. She was a teacher in the Philippines with experience in both Primary and Secondary schools. She worked with children with special needs and served as volunteer teacher in Adult Literacy back home. She teaches Communications from QQI Level 3-5, Special Needs Assisting QQI Level 5 and Work Experience QQI Level 5.
Along with our other tutors, we also have guidance and psychologist services available to students.
SOLAS the Further Education and Training Agency is responsible of the Longford Westmeath Education Training Board, who funds and manages the Kilbeggan Further Education and Training Centre. Youthreach Programme is co-funded by the Irish Government, the European Social Fund and the Youth Employment Initiative as part of the ESF Programme for Employability, Inclusion and Learning 2014-2020. Learners on the Youthreach programme are entitled to receive a training allowance. Additional allowances for meal, travel and accommodation are also available. Our Centre forms part of the Programme for Employability, Inclusion and Learning 2014-2020 which is co-funded by the Government of Ireland and the ESF with a special allocation from the Youth Employment Initiative. The Youthreach programme provides two years integrated education, training and work experience for unemployed early school leavers without any qualifications or vocational training who are between 15 and 20 years of age.
